Green Spring and Red Houses-- ?A Sketching Adventure

Article/Huang Yongsheng

On the final half day of my sketching tour to Jishan village at Yongan, I drove to below the overpass across Jishan village with Guo Ning. From another perspective, the mess was replaced by stretches of green mountains and water. A camphor tree near the overpass caught my eyes. With new green sprouts, it looked like a maid just out of shower, crystal and glittering, lovely and attractive. How many times I wanted to give her a hug in my heart!  Among the greens, a few red houses were quite in incongruous with the farming village. Such incongruous embellishments marks the change of times. Capable farmers no longer has land for farming. Their sons has moved to the urban to earn their livings and support their families. The initiative consciousness of the parent generation has been worn out by the new trend. They wander in the village to spend their later years.  The remained old houses were silent. The grey yellow walls looked antique. The cracks in the walls looked like the skins of farmers hands and feet that have lost the moisturizing of youth and appeared more useless and dilapidated. Old houses and the camphor tree looked more harmonious. If I choose coordinated colors for composition, the painting will convey a retrospective mood; if I choose uncoordinated colors ,the painting will gather a vitality of disharmony. I need to think over on how to present the richness of the painting.
